If you really want to compare Apple to Apple, you must use a comparison level based on industry standard terminology. The meaning of the terms is as follows:

Peak Ampere-Peak Ampere is a market term. There is no industry standard that can define how peak amps are measured. Therefore, you cannot compare the peak ampere ratings between jumper package manufacturers. You can only compare peak ampere ratings between different products from a single take-off starter manufacturer. Peak amperage does not indicate whether it will start your engine.

Starting current (CA)-CA is an industry standard that defines strict test procedures. The CA rating refers to the amperage that the battery can continuously discharge for 30 seconds at 32°F (0°C). Some quick-start manufacturers only list CA levels, while others list CA and CCA levels. If you only compare the CA ratings between different models and manufacturers, the models with higher ratings will perform better at normal temperatures.

Cold Start Amperage (CCA)-CCA is an industry standard that defines strict testing procedures. The CCA rating refers to a battery that can continuously discharge for 30 seconds at a temperature of 0°F (-17.77°C) without falling below 7.2 volts. The test procedure requires cooling the new battery to 0°F. The higher the CCA level, the stronger the battery power. Because cold engines require more power to start and reach the lowest RPMS to start, CCA is much more important than CA or Peak amp.

2. How much power does the jump starter require?
If you have properly maintained the engine and used the proper oil viscosity, here are some guidelines for how much ampere you need when starting a cold engine.

Commercial trucks-more than 500 CCA

Cars or trucks equipped with V-8 engines above 225 CCA

150-225 CCA for cars or SUVs equipped with V-6 or 4-cylinder engines

4. What convenience and safety features should you look for in the jumper bag?

Preheat jumper package
The battery does not work well when it is too cold. The jumper with preheat will use some energy from the battery to drive the heater. The excess heat is sufficient to make up for the power lost by running the heater.

Short circuit protection-it's very simple. If you accidentally touch the positive clamp to the negative clamp, the battery pack will close.

Cable length—The manufacturer attempts to keep the cable length as short as possible so that thinner wire gauges can be used. If you use longer cables, you must use thicker wires, while copper wires cost money. However, you need sufficient length to connect the cables and put the jumper bag in a safe place when leaving the engine. You do not want the backpack to fall into the engine compartment.

Reverse polarity shutdown-If the cable is connected to the wrong terminal, the best battery pack prevents current flow. This is a key feature, and without it, you should not buy a starter pack.

Overvoltage-After the engine is started, its alternator will immediately start charging the battery and your starter. The alternator output can be as high as 15.5 volts. For jumper boxes equipped with lead-acid batteries, voltage is not a problem, but for battery boxes with lithium batteries, this is a major problem. High voltage will cause the lithium battery to catch fire or even explode. If you want to buy a lithium battery jumper package, you must provide overvoltage protection.

Overcurrent protection-Overcurrent protection is similar to overvoltage protection. It prevents the jumper battery from overheating due to the high amperage output of the car's alternator. This is the important reason. These starter kits are designed to be charged at home using low current (ampere) power. Low current charging prevents damage and ensures a long battery life. The power supply is designed to charge up to 2 to 5 amps.
However, once the engine is started, the car's alternator can easily output 30-60 amps, depending on the engine's RPM. Without damaging the battery or causing a fire, no starter can cope with this charging current for a long time. This is why many jumper bag companies declare that the bag must be removed immediately after the engine is started. Better packaging still says this in its instructions, but if the alternator amplifier is too high, they will also limit possible damage by closing the packaging.

Overheat protection-When connecting the starter pack device to a depleted battery, the starter pack battery will be depleted immediately. Since lead-acid and lithium batteries generate electrical energy through a chemical reaction, rapid generation of electrical energy generates a lot of heat. High heat can permanently damage lead-acid batteries. However, the high temperature in the lithium battery will cause it to explode. The best jumper package will prevent this situation, if the internal temperature exceeds the set value, it will automatically close the package.

Overcharge protection-This feature allows you to keep the jumper bag connected to the charging power without worrying about damage to the battery due to overcharging. The power/charger circuit monitors the charge status of the battery and turns off the charger when fully charged.

Lead acid jump starters have always been the industry standard. Generally, they pack more CCA than any lithium battery. The disadvantage is that they self-discharge at a rate of 1-2% per day at room temperature. They emit slowly at low temperatures, but also output less at the same low temperature. The most important thing is that the energy obtained from the lead-acid jumper package is more than any lithium package.
